EIGHT HOUR DAY CONFERENCE. LOXDOX, March 21.
In a emmunique with regard to the international -hours of labour conference, Sir Steel Maitland declares the possibility of an agreement among the five nations represented at the conference is indispensable it a. wider measure of agreement is to be obtained. Tile conference had advanced the whole question of hours of labour front an international standpoint.
Following on speeches hy other delegates an agreement consisting of highly tccniiical clauses was signed. The agreement concludes with an undertaking to report to the respective Governments the conclusions reached so that the Governments which have not ratified may proceed with tho consideration of ratification. Taking into account the agreements reached the British Government will formally report the conference’s conclusions to the International Labour Office. CHIXE.3E FIGHTING. . SHAXGHAI, March 22. Admiralty Fleet orders announce arrangements have been made with tho Government of New Zealand for tho enrolments and training of Royal Fleet Reservists in New Zealand. Accordingly reservists may be permitted to emigrate to New Zealand without taking their discharge from the service and discharged naval ratings and Royal Marines resident in New Zealand, if otherwise eligible may be enrolled in the reserve subject to certain conditions. Until further notice the numlKU's of Royal Fleet allowed to reside in New Zealand will bo limited to one bundled. Training will be performed ill Hiis Mojosty's ships of tho New Zealand division.

The biggest Republican demonstration ever seen in tlie Rhineland took place at Cologne on the occasion of the celebrating of the release of the Cologne zone from foreign occupation. ..
