A BANKRUPT’S STATEMENT. CHRISTCHURCH, March 22. Following the public examination of Robert MeEltiiimey, of Fairfield, a bankrupt farmer, in the Supreme Court this morning the Crown Prosecutor said he would prosecute the bankrupt bedause several creditors were dissatisfied with his conduct and explanation. Once he showed his indebtedness as £2lO and Inter it proved to be £3,650.

BLENHEIM GRASS FIRES. BLENHEIM, March 22. A largo grass lire occurred at Bank House station, yesterday, destroying extensive pastures and plantation. Hundreds of fire-lighters were out Irom Blenheim and the surouniling district. Only a. fortunate change of wind saved the homestead. No details are available at present.

FIRE DAMAGE. BLENHEIM, March 22. Further details of the Bankhouso fire show 2,000 to 3,000 acres of grass country were swept by the flames which menaced the homestead and station buildings, these being surrounded by big belts of pinus insignus, the fringes of which were burnt. As far ns is known the loss of stock is not great, although the sheep flocks suffered to some extent. BODY FOUND. DARGAVILLE. March 22. The lioil.v of a young man, Keith Mitchell, drowned on the West Const on March 14th., was discovered on Saturday evening 16 miles north of where the fatality took place. At the inquest a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned.
