[Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.] [LONDON. March 18. At the Albert Hall, lighting in a 20-rounds match for the heavyweight championship of Britain, l’hil Scott knocked out Frank Goddjird, the holder. in the third round. I n the fifteen rounds heavyweight contest, Tom Heeney heat Charley Smith, who was disqualified in tho 6th. round.
Scott, iii the first round demonstrated that he was too fast for Goddard, who was pa inf ulv slow. In the second round Scott forced matters, but lie ran into a left which doored him. However, he managed to weather the round.
In the third round, Goddard opened aggressively, but lie left himself open to Scott’s left, which the latter followed up by rights to the jaw. thus outing Goddard. After the match. Scott said:—The result makes me champion of Great Britain. I am prepared to defend the title against all comers, but my great ambition is to fight Dempsey for {lie world’s championship.
