The Autumn Sato of South Westland surplus stock was held at these yards oil Tuesday last, when the yarding comprised the usual drafts front the settlors principally situated in the far South. The quality of the entries was not equal to that of previous years and most of the vendors attribute this fact to the extremely wet season and consequent shortage of feed experienced through tho late- summer. Competition was not as brisk as in former years, there being no outside hovel's with the result that local graziers had the market pretty well to themselves. ' Nevertheless some ot the lines sold reached quite their full value and consequently vendors taking tho market as a whole were satisfied with their sales. Our entry comprised 174 head of cattle, the whole of which were quitted under the hammer, with the exception of two lines which did not. reach the vendors idea of values.
