After a sensational struggle one of the prisoners who escaped from the Townville gaol was recaptured. [Oil February 22nd., two notorious criminals escaped from the Stewart’s Creek Gaol, by cutting through the iron bars with a small hack-saw, and then lowering themselves to the ground by a rope made with their blankets.]

It is announced that as a result of the ballot among the Trades and Labour Councils of Australia, that the name of John Beasley (President of the. Sydney Council) will ho submitted to Mr Bruce for approval as tho Labour delegate to the International Labour Conference at Geneva. A CORRECTION. MELBOURNE, March 18. 'Phe General Secretary. Baebourne. said the statement of a credit balance of 3s (id was an error as tliis figure appeared in the balance sheet only as cash in hand. The actual credit was £17!) sterling. The total assets of the Union amounted to £3,114 sterling.
