ISLAND TRADE.
AUCKLAND. March 17. Importers of Island fruit interviewed the manager of the Union Steamship Coy., and urged a monthly service between Auckland and the Islands, with a modern boat properly equipped for the fruit trade, which would he run by those directly interested in Cook Islands—Auckland trade. The proposals will be placed before the Company’s head office and a reply will be sent within a week or two. Tl was stated there would be five shipments to Wellington from Cook Islands lxd'ore the first to Auckland in May.
