FRIDAY, MARCH 12. The Council sat at 7.30 p.m. Present:—o. A. Perry Esq. (Mayor), Messrs 11. Blank, 11. Parry, F. Orr, \Y. Jeffries, J. King. file absence of Alessrs Coulson, Heinz' and El cock was apologised for. The minutes of the previous meeting were continued. INWARD COREESPONDEXC F. From J. Lloyd apologising for absence.—Received and accepted. From Westland County Council notifying deputation in respect to the bridges for South Westland.— Received. Mr Jeffries explained the position and introduced the deputation consisting of Messrs Chesterman. Duff and Frans. The members of the deputation represented the matter, and asked that a poll bo taken 011 the proposal to raise £.590 by loan. Air Parry move:! that n special meeting of the Finance Committee he held to consider the matter. Mr King seconded.—Carried. It was decided to hold the meeting on Tuesday evening next at 7 o’clock. Tie suggested the decisions at the conference be endorsed. Mr Jeffries concurred.—-Matter agreed to. From E. C. (,'oumbe, Sowell Street, asking for assistance in regard to street drainage.— Received and re)erred to Public Works Committee.
From A. Cedermaii. asking permission to clear Huffman Sireel for grazing purposes.—-Received and approved conditionally. From A. Appleton, regarding leases of reserves for which £2, including rates, were offered.---Received and offer accepted cm yearly basis, reports.
Tho Treasurer reported receipts '£2l 15s 6d ; expenditure. £263 18s Bid : debit, general account £-)90 3s 2d; credit to ail account, £2Bl Os lid. Accounts to Hie amount of £lB3 1 is ltd were passed for payment-. The Abattoir report notified one' cow and one bullock were condemned. 'The fees were £74 18s (£92 14s. previous vrar). Mr Jeffrie's said the falling oil in less was duo to the drop in pigs killed. He also said some small works were necessary.—The Committee to report. Mr Lloyd was appointed to tlie Library Committee vacancy. Tho Council rose at S.lO p.m
