HAIVERA WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
DUNEDIN, March 7
The competitions held under the au- , spices of the United Fire Brigades’ Association were brought to a conclusion on the Exhibition Sports Ground on Saturday. As on the three previous da vs. there was very keen competition, and some fast times "were again corded. Four events had to be decided ami it was after sunset before the ITawera team completed the last run of the day. This team was expected to annex the disabled hose event for five men, but they met with misfortune and did not get a test. The South Island teams to secure prize money were: Gore, Addington Railway. Hokitika, Greymouth, Christchurch City. Oanumi ami Sumner. The events were pushed through without loss of time, but it was 0.51 p.m. before the last team, liawera. left the mark.
