Hie Methodist Conference, tho following committee was deal with the question of can&autos for the Ministry, who were to lie designated for youth work in tho executive of the Voting People’s Department with the Principal, the Rev. Laws :—Rev S. La wry, Messrs Seed and 1-L W. Heslop. Additional Home Mission grants were agreed to in the following eases if ordained ministers are appointed: Taumarutiui, £00; Opotiki, £6O; Eketahuna £OO, Hokitika £OO, Deaconess' ITokianga and Taranaki £lO. Tho grant to Greytown of £6O, was cancelled.
The conference having exhausted most of its business, the usaul votes of thanks were moved at an earlier stage than usual. The President (Rev P. N. Knight, 8.A.) was heartily thanked for his inaugural address, and (lie efficient manner in which ho concluded the business, in spite of his indifferent state of health he had never missed a. session. The Conference with loud and prolonged applause, thanked the hosts and hostesses for providing homes under very difficult circumstances.
M r J.- 11. Blackwell presented the report on the Contingent Fund. It was pointed out that the income was £290 less, and the expenditure irrsMO more, than usual, with tlie result that the credit balance of the fund had boon reduced to £9OO 4s lOd. The estimated income for 1926 was expected to reach £4238 and the expenditure to reach £.’>s2S, thus further reducing the balance credit to £7140. The position will necessitate a levy of 8 per cent from the circuits, although the lew for this year was increased h.v It per cent. Attention was drawn to the fact that the levy in connection with the Removal Expenses Fund was reduced by 1 per cent. This would mean only one half per cent increase in the Conncxional charges. IF. Blackwell and the Rev AV. O. Slade, M.A., were thanked for their services as ‘treasurers and re-appointed. The final reading of the stations resulted in the following changes:—
