The hearing of the charge of theft of £27 14s against Samuel Arthur Lee from his employer. Richard Ronchi. was resumed at the Supreme Court yesterday, before Air Justice Adams, and a jury. After a hearing lasting all day, the jury returned at 7 p.m.. after being out since 4.J0 p.m., with a verdict of not guilty and Lee was accordingly discliarged. Stanley Lawrence George Conch was yesterday sentenced liy His Honour. Air Justice Adams, to three months imprisonment on a charge of breaking, entering and theft from the premises of Aliss llahay Surety, draper. Boundary Street, Grcymouth, the sentence to include the period he has already been in gaol. Ili.s Honour said that the crime was obviously one which might be attributed to liquor, lie thought that the police should endeavour to ascertain how the prisoner obtained the liquor on a. Sunday. The prisoner had excellent recommendations from responsible people. The charge was a serious one. not in results, hut in its nature. Prisoner was out on probation now. He would make the sentence a light one on account of prisoner’s good qualities. Ills Honour hoped, in dealing with him lightly, Couch, would fortfy himself and resist further temptations.
