Matson and Co., report as follows regaiding their stock sala at Addington yards yesterday: Store Siieep.—There was a tremendous yarding and the sale was still in progress when this wire was sent. There were not so many lambs as last week and the balance of the yarding comprised mostly North Island ewes of various descriptions. In spite of the very heavy yarding the sale, which started on the lamb .section opened at last- week’s rates and improved as it progressed, showing an average rise of Is to Is (itl per head. Ewes also opened firm and all classes showed an improvement. However, towards the closing stages, when the bulk of the public had left, the sale started to sag •somewhat; even then, prices were good but hardly no to opening rates and several pens wore passed. On the whole it was a marvellous sale. Beef.—A small yarding;, comprising 300 head. The quality generally was very irregular. The majority of the yarding was made up of cows and odd steers and they certainly showed an improved tone and good fresh eows and heifers also showed an improvement, hut rough and unfinished sorts showed little difference from last. week. 'Faking the sale all round, however, it must l;e considered a good one and on the average showed an improvement on hist week. Mutton.—The smallest yarding for
some weeks and mostly owes. The quality, with the exception of a few outstanding pens of both wethers and ewes, was decidedly below the average. The market opened firm at last week’s rales and improved considerably as it progressed and showed a rise of anything from Is (Id to Is on hist week. Exporters were not able to operate with freedom as prices generally were above schedule. Prime wethers math' 30s to 335, extra to 37s id. medium 26s (Id to 20s (Id, others to 25s 3d, prime ewes 21s 3d to 275, extra to 32s 7<l. medium 2()k to 23s Od. others to Uls (hi. Eamhs.—A small yarding and the quality on the whole was very indifferent. There was a fair proportion of West Coast lambs handled which, in our opinion, met with a good sale. The market showed little quotable dillereiiee from, last week and we think sold fully up to schedule rates and at limes slightly over. Exporters were opera ling freely throughout and obtained the hulk of the outre
