ciation commenced its bi-annual com petition this morning on the Exhibi lion sports ground, seventy-one bri glides competing. Ihe events coin mowed were the (Elbert .Memorial two men coupling, three men hose, and hydrant and dressing, and laddc*r for olio n'-iin.
Some very fast times were recorded ia the latter event which was the only one completed at the end of the day. Superintendent .Morrison (llawera' Brigadei gave a brilliant display uf smart dressing and ladder climbing, winning the event in a very smart time of M 2-A seconds. When the day’s competitions concluded at (1 p.m.. the eight loading
teams in the two* men coupling were To Kuili. (wire. Taihape. Unworn,'Hillside Railway, Te Aroint and Hastings. The six hading teams in the (Elbert .Memorial event are : - V liangnrci. llawera, Devoupori. Dailuevirke, Napier Railway and Te Amlin. A Whangarei man pul up a remarkably fast time in this event. The Lading seven teams ill the hose and hydrant event are .-—Unworn. Daiinevirke, Thames, Orcenlane. Tniluipe. Stretford and Te Aroha.
