The remarkable popularity of the Argyll and' Sutherland Highlanders' Hand was demonstrated in an unmistakable fashion at tin: Exhibition yesterday. when the Hand resumed its daily concerts after enjoying a week’s holiday during the big hand contest. There was no special attraction scheduled for yesterday to draw a big crowd, and Monday is usually regarded rather as an off day. yet the attendance yesterday was 17.1 Hi bringing the grand total for fifteen weeks up to 1.831.7(15, which is equal to a wonderful daily average of 20.fi10. Ihe performance of “ Faust ” by the combined Royal Wellington Choral Union and the Dunedin Choral Society in the Festival Rail last night was a splendid success, the proceedings being held up mi one occasion until the applause had subsided. Tu-niglil's work "ill he " Holden Legend.” Fire ISrigndcs from all parts of the Dominion are competing, and also open to-night with a torchlight, procession from the city to the Exhibition. followed by an illuminated water di-play and fireworks display by Chinese residents.
