COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS.

'fhe contests among the selected of West Coast Bowling Clubs for Hie Singles and Pairs Championships took place’ on tiie Rttnnnga Club’s green on Saturday. As a result of heavy ram during tiie night and early morning, the green was in a very wet condition when play was commenced, and tiie foothold "was extremely greasy and slippery. To such an extent was it difficult to keep a firm foothold that the mats were stapled to the ground after one game lmd been played. The green was heavy, but under tiie circumstances played well and improved as the day wore on, and the ground dried up. The Ruininga Club lady supporters provided a very plentiful supply of eatables for the players and visitors throughout the day and were very attentive to the wants oi’ players. Play was commenced shortly before 10 o’clock. Mr. Heslin (President) welcoming the visitors to the green. Owing lo tin' threatening condition oi tiie weather and thero being a prospect of stoppages owing to train il was resolved to cut, down the play from 21 heads to lti heads for the pairs, but to continue the singles with twenty one heads. The G-reymoutli Club representatives proved successful in winning both the singles and the pairs championships showing good form and going through without a loss. lif tiie singles Mr. Levy (Westport) and in the pairs Messrs Thompson and Stevensoil were the runners up.
