Particulars of the motor car tragedy on Karamea road on Thursday show that Mrs Smith, wife of the Public Works Overseer, was in a new three soater Ford Beauty, learning to drive, her husband being with her. It appears that when coming round a Iteml. Mrs Smith saw Mr Don Simpson, who had previously taken some passengers for Mr Burrow’s service, to Scddonville and was returning to Karamea, in the centre of the road at a standstill. Mrs Smith evidently went to pull aside and tits' car went over the side and was precipitated 40ft below into Tidal Creek, Mrs Smith being killed. Mr Smith, had a collarbone broken and was badiv shaken.
