Judge SUiiford overruled demurrers filed by the defendants, and hold that the indictments were valid. Tim demurrers contended that the Secretary of the Navy was empowered by law to negotiate leases oil the naval reserves, and not ex-Senator Fall, and that, consequently, the leases granted by ex-Senator Fall were null and void, licm-e they could not damage or defraud the United States. Judge Stafford likewise overruled a demurrer by Air Harry Sinclair (another oil king) who will he tried in the same Court with ex-Senator Fall and Air Doherty. FORCE FOR U.S.A. BORDER. WASHINGTON. Fob. 15. The Assistant Secretary to the Treasury. Air Andrews, has announced that the creation ol a National Police Force to enforce the prohibition, narcotic and

customs laws along the United States borders will shortly be recommended hv Congress. Mr Andrews said that, a recommendation, for one police force for border control work would he transmitted to Congress, with other proposals, which, h" stated would steiigthon the prohibition enforcement. Ho said that another proposal provided for a complete reorganisation ot t!ie coastguard.
