.AUCKLAND, Feb. 1. Tt is not very often that a person is before tbe Court charged with the theft of electric light. However, a middle-aged man came before Mr .1, AY. Boynton, S.AL. this morning when he pleaded guilty to fraudulently consuming electric light valued at 2s hieing guilty of theft. Chief Detective Cumings said the accused’s landlady had cut off his supply of gas from the mete- and in order to obtain some hot water to give his children—who were at the tinii? suffering from the whooping cough, the accused fixed a small piece of wire to the electric wires iodide his liotui? enabling him to electrically heat water for nothing.
