The Greymouth “Star” says that a motor-car and motor-cycle were concerned in a collision which took place on the Pnroa Road on Saturday. The car was driven by Mr Hart, who was proceeding to Hokitika. Mr ,T. Anderson. who had charge of the cycle, was shaken by the impact, and Mr .1. Morrissey of M.arsdeu. who was also on the cvclc. had his left leg slightly hurt.

Last evening’s “Grey Star” says: A car containing eight passengers when going down the lull into Punakaiki on Sunday, collided with a lusher motor lorry, which was timber laden. As a result of the collision, the car sobered damage to a front wheel and axle. At ibe meeting of the Executive of the Boy Scouts the Cheif Commissioner reported that since last meeting ho had visited the Dunedin jamboree, and whilst there lie had noticed the Calliope Sea Scouts doing cutlass drill and a display of cutlass drill had been included in the programme of work, and was put on at the Scout display at the Exhibition grounds in connexion with the jamboree. The Basket Ball held at Kokatahi hist Friday evening, proved a success beyond expectations. The large hall was filled, the night being fine and the townspeople availed themselves of the services of Messrs Xewmnn Bros’ cars, all the buses being packed. Slonforth and partner were declared the winners. The supper was all that could he desired, the ladies of the district' quite excelling themselves in this particular art. During the supper adjournment Mr T. O’Xeil (on liehalf of the Catholic Church Committee) in a neat speech thanked all those present for their attendance. making special mention of the musicians and various judges, who so kindly gave their services. The baskets were then put up for auction by Mr O’Xeil and the amount realised will help to swell the funds considerably. Dancing was kept going until 3 a.in. The duties of M.C. were efficiently carried out by Air B. Dowell. The opinion expressed was unanimous in declaring the function the most successl d of its kind held in the district. Mr D. MeYiear, Alexander River, had the misfortune while cutting some timber, to let the axe slip, with the result that his right foot was so badly rut that lie had to have lour stitches put into it. This will keep him in idleness for some time to come.

A very pleasant ceremony took place at the pavilion yesterday when the members of All Saints Tennis Chib gathered for the purpose of making a presentation to the secretary (Miss Lydia Fane) whose marriage to Mr Roy Paterson takes place to-morrow. The President of the Club (Rev. J. Perkins) in asking Miss Fane to accept a Doulton jug and cake dish, expressed appreciation of the good woik performed by Miss Fane as secretary to the Club, a'ml extended to her best wishes for her future happiness. Letters received by the Commissary state that Bishop West Watson and his family intend to leave England by the Rotorua oil February 12, and this vessel is due in Wellington on Saturday, March 20. It is probable that the Bishop will cross to Lyttelton the same evening if the Rotorua arrives in sufficient time, and thus he may arrive oil Passion Sunday, states the “Church News.” Assuming that he will arrive in any case during the week following, it is likely that the formal “ enthronement ” will take place about Wednesday evening March 24.
