ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
DUNEDIN, Feb. 7. The police received a telegram from Omaha to-ilav, reporting that George Francesca Almond Sergen, bootmaker, shot himself, and was removed to the hospital in a critical condition. BAD WEATHER IN AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Feb. 6. There was a heavy thunderstorm in Auckland last night. The rainfall for the 24 hours up to nine o’clock this morning was eightv-one points. The weather has improved slightly, but the speed races here were postponed to-day for better conditions.
DETERIORATED LANDS. AUCKLAND, Feb. 6.
The Hon. Mr McLeod states that the third Committee under the Deteriorated Lands Act consists of Air Chas. (Jordon of Opitiki Farmers, (Chairman) Afr H. P. Hamilton, of tho Valuation Department, and Afr H. L. Primrose, of the Lands and ■Survey Department. The Committee, commences work almost immediately.
