DISTRICT RACING COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the District llacing Committee was held at Greymouth yesterday morning. Present; Messrs H. E. Doogan (Chairman), D. J. Evans, A. Pcroti, W. 11. Kettle, W. H. Purfitt. An apology for absence was received from .Mr T. E. Coates.

The Racing Conference advised that the following applications had been dealt with:—A, E. Barrett, Hokitika, trainer's license, held over for certificate of competency from Australia; N. Consul, trainer’s license, refused : A. Goodman, conditional jockey’s license, extended for a further period of three months. -McKoudry’s license was cancelled. The programme for the Ileefton Racing Club’s meeting on April 1-1, was approved. It was stated the Greymouth Club’s programme would he the same as last year. The programme for the Easter circuit would be issued in the course of a few days in booklet form. A trainer’s license was recommended for E. Moran.

A. G. Campbell wrote admitting he was probably blameworthy in regard to a certain incident in the birdcage at Ileefton, hut stating what was said was spoken in the heat of the moment and he offered to send a written apology to the person offended. It was resolved to accept the apology and acquaint the Licensing Committee of the correspondence. Campbell being already under disqualification it was decided not to impose any further penal tv.

A. McDonnel, owner of Maunn, telegraphed that owing to the late receipt of the letter of request it was nut possible to lonvard in time the statutory declaration required, but this was being done; meantime lie totally denied the truth of the allegations made against him hv the two witnesses at the late enquiry in reference to Ihe second hurdle race at .Reef ton. The telegram was received and it was resolved to <lefer further consideration of the matter to the next meeting when the evidence required would he before the meeting. An account for CO in connection with the late enquiry was passed for payment.
