His injury which might have been much worse, consisted of a deep cut on the foot, severing an artery. Slip Hill on Kanieri Lake road has been a source of continued expense over many years to the local body. It has lived up to its name and frequent slips more or less serious have caused considerable outlay to keep the road open for traffic. Just at present arrangements are being made to sluice off the top of the hill causing the recurring damage, and at the same time widen the roadway materially to avoid the necessity of special attention in the future. The experiment is an interesting one and the trial result will no doubt he awaited with interest. The effort appears to be a very practical one to solve a situation which lias been a source of expense to the County Council.

In answer to a protest from the Greymouth Harbour Board, regarding the removal of thirty of the Railway Workshops staff, the Minister of Bailways, Mr J. (!. Coates, has replied that the changes are in accordance with workshops reorganisation scheme already announced. The barge which is to carry the machinery to be used by Mr R. T. The machinery and plant for the demonstration, which are to he installed oil the barge, are expected to come to band in a week or so.

The Hon, J. A. Young, Minister for Health, is making a tour of the Dominion, to familiarise himself with the hospitals and mental asylums, with which, as Minister of Health, lie has to deal.
