ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. LARGE YARDING- OF BEEF. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs H. Alatson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store SheepA very big entry comprising a large proportion of iambs, which sold very ’ well, in fact, better in comparison than fat lambs. Ewes and wethers were also well represented, but although selling fairly well did not show the same keenness as lambs, which were quite Is to Is Gd above last week. The late rains have evidently put “ginger” into the market. Four to 5 tooth Romney North Island ewes made up to 31s, local half-bred ditto made up to 30s, best rape lambs 20s to 22s Gd, extra to 245, smaller down to 16s, culls to 11s, Chatham Island s.m. Romney ewes to 25s Gd, Poverty Bay s.m. ewes 23s 3d, two tooth ewes 36s Gd, best forward wethers to 26s Id, medium 21s to 23s Del, others to 17s. Considering present conditions the sale must be considered a good one. Store Cattle:—A small entry and practically comprised of odd lots which sold at last week’s prices. One decent pen of 3-year old steers made £6 17s Gd, other values being unchanged. Fat Pigs:—A full yarding, porkers being in over-supply and in consequence values declined. Baconers were also slightly easier than last week’s values. Light pickers made 45s to 50s, heavy 52s to 60s, average 7d to BJd, light baconers £3 12s to £4, heavy tS4 5s to £4 15s, extra to £5 10s, aver-
age 6)d to 7jd, choppers £2 10s to £5.
Store Pigs:—A medium entry and a poor sale throughout. Sales were difficult to make and the market, if anything, was easier than last week. A’alues: small weaners 10s 6d to IBs, best sorts to 225, slips 23s to 26s 6d, small sorts 28s to 3ls, medium 33s to 365, larger up to 455. Beef:—A large yarding of 575 head, comprising mostly c-ows and heifers. The quality, generally, was very irregular. Steer beef held its own, but cows were easier. The market generally was a dragging one, but towards the end firmed up. Generally speaking there was little difference from last week. Prime steers made £l4 to £l7 12s 6d, extra to £lO 7s 6d, medium £ll to £l3 15s, lighter and others down to £B, prime heifers £8 10s to £ll, extra to £l3 2s Gd, medium £6 10s to £8 ss, others down to £4 ss, prime cows £8 to £lO 10s, extra, to £l2 12s Gd, medium £6 5s to £7 10s, others down to £3 2s Gd. Mutton :—Only a medium yarding and mostly ewes. Tbe quality was very irregular. Freezing buyers were not very keen evidently, owing to the adverse reports of the conditions at factories. AA’etliers held their own, but ewes were easier, especially towards tbe end of the sale by about Is to Is Gd on last week. Prime wethers made 30s Gd to 335, extras to 35s lOd, medium 27s Gd to 30s, lighter to 245. prime owes 21 Gd to 265, extra, to 29s 3d, medium 18s to 21s, others to 14s. Lambs:—A fairly large entry and included some excellent lines from the AVest Coast. Exporters, although operating, did not seem very keen, evidently owing to the trouble at the factories, but the market was firm throughout at about schedule prices.
