Merino is selling irregularly. Continental sorts. 7.V per cent to 10 per cent, below last closing rates. Crossbred competition is good, at about last (imitations. Coarser sorts are in favour of sellers. TALLOW. Tlie spot market is quieter. Present quotations- are: .Mutton—Fine. 13s fid to Ifis : fair to good -ILs fid to 13s: dark to dull. 39s to 40s. Beef.—Sweet or mixed. II s fid to 43s fid; fair to good. 39s fid to 11s (id; dark to dull. 33s to 395. -Mixed.—Fair to good, 39s to 41s; dark to dull. 37s fid to 33s fid. Cut. etc.—33s fid to 33s per ewt. hemp. The Manila market is irregular. ”J” grade. Februarv-April shipments, sold at £4 1 13s down to £44. and FebrunryApril and March-May shipments are at £4-">. Sisal is steady. Tanganyika Xo. I. Jnnuary-Mnreh shipments are quoted at £-13 value. Xew Zealand high points are easy and offered at £39 10s. any position. There have been reported sales of common at £34 10s, Janus rv-.\l arch shipments.
