(Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.] CITY MILK SUPPLY.. MELBOURNE, Feh. 3. The proposals by the Chairman of the Health Committee of the Melbourne City Council. Alderman Stapler, for the establishment of a municipal milk supply at Alelbourne were considered by the Council. Alderman Stafley submitted his report on his inquiries made into the AVellington supply during his visit to New Zealand. The committee proposes to invite Air Heron, the manager of the AVellington Alilk Supply, to visit Alelbourne and submit a report on the project.
AUSTRALIAN WHEAT YIELD. (Received this day at 10.25 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 4. Revised estimates of the Australian wheat harvest indicates the total yield will lie approximately 110,000,00 bushels. The area cultivated is 10,300,000 acres, the average yield being 107 bushels. The figures compare with the 164,000,000 bushels yield, 10,819,(XX) acres cultivated and the 152 bushels average yield for the 1924-25 season. TWO MORE TOWNS MENACED. MELBOURNE, Feb. 4. s Fanned by a strong wind the Ini&fcC fires are raging fiercely and the flames arc tearing towards Emerald and Cockatoo, approaching tho latter from tho opposite quarter to that taken by the disastrous tire which destroyed ten bouses earlier in the week. Homesteads in the lower Dandenongs are encircled by walls of flames fifty feet high. In and around Tumiit Valley the hills are alight for miles. It is impossible to get within half a mile of the advancing flames.
