AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE.
AUCKLAND, Jan. 28.
The question of the establishment of a. School of Agriculture for the North Island was fully discussed at a special meeting of the council of Auckland University college. Tile council came unanimously to the conclusion embodied in the following resolution:— “That this council is of opinion that the interests of agricnltur.il education in Auckland province and in New Zealand generally will he best promoted l>v means of combination between Auckland and Victoria University College in the North Island. I hat in order to secure fliat result a conference should he held in Wellington by representatives from each college council as early as possible to consider the question and prepare a scheme for cooperation in the establishment and control of such agricultural college. That the president and Professors Sugar and Worley !*• appointed to represent this council at such conference, and report to the council at anothei special meeting.’’ In pursuance of these resolutions, the Hon. George Eowlds will leate Auckland on Monday evening to attend a conference with Victoria College representatives to he held next luesdav morning at \ ictoria College, wheie he' will be met bv Professors Segar. Worley and Hiddot. who will meanwhile arrive from the south. The whole question will then receive full discussion bv representatives of the two colleges and from the attitude of the Auckland Council it is quite certain that no parochial sentiment will ontei into the treatment of the matter at the conference. ,
