FIRE EXTINGUISHER

SUCCESSFUL DEMONSTRATION

Recently at Pahiatua, in the presence of a number of persons, 11 successful demonstration was given on a section at the rear of the Commercial Hotel of the U.S.A. Victory Clictnital Extinguisher, which is highly recommended for household and motor-car fires, and specially in promptly subduing outbreaks caused by inflammable oils, states the Pahiatua ‘‘Herald.” Tt is not claimed that it can he used for embers, rubbish, gorse or hay, unless used ill large (putunties. The practical demonstration, however, was most convincing, onlookers being astonished at the efficacy of the patent and the wonderful short time, a space of a few seconds only in each instance—in which the blaze was instantly extinguished. The linal test comprised a largo ease, the interior saturated with tar and petrol. The match was applied, and the box blazed merrily to a height of •'!•) feet. Once the powder was thrown at the base of the (lame, it speedily extinguished the lire. Certainly the patent when used, according to directions as contained in the cylinder, is a cheap insurance against outbreaks caused by inflammable nils, and the perpetual anxiety of every woman, a defective chimney, which has brought many homes to utter ruin, and will readily do what the proprietors claim for it. Mr A. E. Costall, of Rongotea. formerly of Mangamutu. was so impressed with the extinguisher in saving his home when a fire occurred as the result of a tin of hot tar bursting into flames, nhieh were above the chimney to a height of live feet, that he insisted on giving an 'unsolicited signed testimonial.
