FIRE EXTINGUISHER

SUCCESSFUL DEMONSTRATION

Recently at Pahiatua, in the presence of a number of persons, 11 successful demonstration was given on a section at the rear of the Commercial Hotel of the U.S.A. Victory Clictnital Extinguisher, which is highly recommended for household and motor-car fires, and specially in promptly subduing outbreaks caused by inflammable oils, states the Pahiatua ‘‘Herald.” Tt is not claimed that it can he used for embers, rubbish, gorse or hay, unless used ill large (putunties. The practical demonstration, however, was most convincing, onlookers being astonished at the efficacy of the patent and the wonderful short time, a space of a few seconds only in each instance—in which the blaze was instantly extinguished. Tim use of the carbon-diox-ide gas generated from the powder '.-oniing in contact with beat, immediately suffocated all blaze upon a -mall quantity of flic powder contained in the cylinder being vigorously thrown into the blaze ot the fire, the (lames living at ottce swept, off the hoard.

The first test ref resented petrol ..pill on a garage Moor. There was a big blaze, but it was extinguished in less than two seconds. The second test comprised a small tin filled with petrol, and the laiter liquid sprinkled all round a large tin basin, to represent a carburettor on lire. The linmes shot out, hut the expert calmly and firmly threw a quantity of the powder. which subdued them the moment the chemical came in contact. As it is sometimes assorted that sand will do likewise this was fried three times, once on a mat representing a table on lire, but a.s might be expected sand was a delusion and proved a complete Liiime. in marked contrast to the efficiency of the chemical powder..

The next demons! ration was to represent the exploding ol it kerosene lamp on a ruble cover. The cover was saturated with kerosene and benzine, and wa.s all ablaze, hut its life was cut very short when the powder dropped on it. A further demonstration represented a tin filled with beeswax, tar, turpentine and petrol, four highly inflammable oils, generating a tremendous body of beat, a most difficult tire to deal with at any time, and one that had destroyed many a home). However, in two seconds the lire was put out.

The linal test comprised a largo ease, the interior saturated with tar and petrol. The match was applied, and the box blazed merrily to a height of •'!•) feet. Once the powder was thrown at the base of the (lame, it speedily extinguished the lire. Certainly the patent when used, according to directions as contained in the cylinder, is a cheap insurance against outbreaks caused by inflammable nils, and the perpetual anxiety of every woman, a defective chimney, which has brought many homes to utter ruin, and will readily do what the proprietors claim for it. Mr A. E. Costall, of Rongotea. formerly of Mangamutu. was so impressed with the extinguisher in saving his home when a fire occurred as the result of a tin of hot tar bursting into flames, nhieh were above the chimney to a height of live feet, that he insisted on giving an 'unsolicited signed testimonial. Copies of this, with instructions how In apply the powder, are enclosed with each cvlimler.

Mr ft in. As a user of your Extinguisher powder. I have no hesitation in stating that I found it a first-class article. Shortly after meeting your agent. Air Keen (who sold me two tubes of Extinguisher). j bad occasion to start mv

car, which had been standing fur some time. The carburettor had been leaking rather freely and flooded the eightcylinder engine with benzine. On starting she backfired and ignited the benzine; in a second the engine was ablaze from end to end. [ promptly applied the 1 .X. A. Victory powder, which extinguished the (lames in a few seconds, leaving no trace of the fire on any pari of llio engine. T am, Yours Truly. A :well-sntisf.Od customer. X. AA’. GROVES.

The registered article lias boon on the market- for Tl years, and the proprietors claim that wherever it has been faithfully tried it has never yet been found wanting.
