The annual conference of delegates from the various swimming centres of New Zealand was held there this afternoon. Air AY. E. D. Bishop (president) referred in his opening remarks to the improvement taking place in swimming in the Dominion, as indicated by the fresh records established. It was resolved that the Council lie requested to arrange a visit from an overseas swimmer or swimmers. A remit was carried that where facilities exist, swimming and lile saving be compulsory in tiie primary and secondary schools, and that the Government he asked to include swimmine and life saving as a special subject "ill Hie teachers’ training syllabus. Next year the championships will be held at 'Auckland. A suggestion that they s.iouhl he divided between two centres was thrown out.
