CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 28. Five burglaries, two ol which were followed by fires, occurred in the city last night. All premises were temporarily unoccupied at the time and in two cases the owners were absent from Christchurch. The burglaries took place at the following resiliences: —A. L. lacker, 180 Salisbury Street, house burned; Mrs Allen, 180 Kilmore Street; J. T. (■ Stott, 271 Cambridge Terrace, house burned-, Airs Al. Payne, 306 Durham '.Street; Airs E. Scott, 410 Durham Street. At 5.16 p.m. a passer-by noticed a fire in Air Tucker’s five roomed bungalow. After the arrival of the brigade and the extinguishing of the lire, it was discovered the house had been broken into.
