POSTAL DEPARTMENTS DEFICIT.
MELBOURNE!, Jan. 28. The annual report of the PostmasterGeneral’s Department, tabled in the House of Representatives, showed the nott loss for the year ended 13th. June 1925 was £242,322. The earnings of all branches totalled £9,074,8-54, an increase of £3-50,053 over the previous year. AYorking expenses, excluding interest charges, totalled £9,230,629, an increase of £781,853. The previous year’s operations showed a profit of £304,352. The principal factors contributing to the changed financial asps t ns compared with the previous year were: Reductions of the postage rate, £300,000; application of radial charges for telephone calls, £82,000; reduced cable rate £17,500; mail steamer loss, £47,fiv)o; various Arbitration Court awards, £283,000.
