It is officially announced at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, that the Conservatives will not oppose Premier Mackenzie King, thus assuring Ins return to Parliament by acclamation on nomination day, the Ist. lob. The Progressives are officially out of the contest. GREAT ATLANTIC STORM. TWO STEAMERS IN DIFFICULTY. NEW YORK, Jan. 20. The lives of at least sixty seamen are in jeopardy on two steamships battling in mid-ocean against one of the worst storms ever encountered in the Atlantic. The liner President Roosevelt is standing by the British freighter Antinoc to aid her crew of 25 if the worst befalls the ship. The Roosevelt has lost two seamen of the rescue party which made an unsuccessful attempt to hoard the distressed craft. At the same time the liner Bremen is hastening to help another British freighter the Laristan, which is in a serious
plight. The radio broadcasting officials, whose attempts to reach Europe have boon marred for the last two nights hj the S.O.S. signals from the distressed ships will make another attempt tonight.
