PRIME MINISTER AND SESSION.

(Special Correspondent.) AVELLINGTON, January 25. The Government having decided on the completion of Parliament Buildings in Coromandel granite and marble, plans were approved a lew months ago for temporary quarters for the Parliamentary restaurant and committee rooms to replace a number which would have to lie discarded when workmen commenced to put in the foundations of the extensive new wing. AVork on temporary alterations to the former Government House, which covers the proposed site, was almost on the point of commencing when it was suddenly countermanded'. It was evident that the Government, was uncertain about the date of the session, and information which came from England regarding the possibility of an early meeting of the -Imperial Conference gave tlie clue to the changed plans.

The Prime Minister was asked if he could state when the session is likely to open. He (replied it would commence on the usual date, towards the end of June. “ Business as usual,” he added. When Mr Coates was asked if this could he taken as an indication for an early Imperial Conference he replied that it was impossible to discuss the matter at the present stage. Though Mr Coates could give no information his reference to sessional plans is in itself significant.
