HM.S. DIOMEDE.
AUCKLAND, Jan. 21. -I h.M.S. Diomede, which arrived today, is larger than her sister ship, the H.M.S. Dunedin. One noticeable feature is the number of wireless aerials, in Which department she is quite up-to-date. She was completely refitted before leaving England on Nov. 21st. She is, the first vessel to come out by the Panama Canal. She called at Bermuda, Jamaica, Panama and San Pedro (where she took in oil fuel), Honolulu and Suva. While in Hawaii she sent a party ashore to tidy up the spot where Captain Cook was killed. She had a pleasant voyage, with the exception of a “blow” in the Atlantic. WOMAN DOCTOR. DIES. LONDON, January 21. Iris Eox, for whose life a fight was made, ns cabled yesterday, died despite n night-long vigil of the best experts. She had a most brilliant career. She held five degrees and was also a Fellow of the Rovnl Society of jyfedieine.
