WEST COAST A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
As will he seen from our advertising columns, the West Coast Agricultural Pastoral and Industrial Association is holding its Fourth Annual Show on Victoria Park, Greymouth, on Wednesday and Thursday the 17th and 18th of February. The Committee responsible for the arrangements for the Show deserve the assistance and cooperation of the community in general, hut of the farmers in particular. Such Shows as these have a special value to farmers, as they afford an opportunity of showing their best stock, and of finding out how it fares under the eye of the critical and expert judge. Besides this, the judges are in a position to afford much useful information that
I will assist in the improvement of herds, sheep and pigs as the case may he. Whilst the educational value of these shows will be admitted readily, they afford the farmer a further advantage,
in that he has the opportunity of meeting farmers, and those interested in agricultural pursuits from other centres, and discussing problems of interest from which often useful and en-
lightening knowledge results. Apart from these considerations', the Shows afford a means of advertising the capacity of our AVest- Coast farm lands, and of demonstrating the adaptability of our climate to the successful raising of dairying, and store cattle, sheep, pigs and horses; which will hold their own with the best produced elsewhere. In supporting these Shows, the residents of the district are helping in n very practical way to illustrate the value of the district as a farming centre, and prove their repeated assertion by “producing the goods” which will establish the fact lievond question. The list of special prizes donated shows that the movement has the practical support of a great number of wellwishers, whilst the official list makes a. royal list worthy of the best competition. Competition for children has been provided, and in addition there is a cash prize for School Boys and Girls for the tiest “Description of the Show.” Full particulars, schedule and prize list can he had on application to Mr Chas. If. Rose, Secretary, P.O. Box--171, Greymouth.
