LATE LOCALS.

A meeting of the, Hokitika Athletic and Cycling Cluhjvill ux er’s sample room# this (Friday) evening at 7.30 Hicl/U. All members and intending mcirtrfrs are requested to be present.—Advt.

Work will he commenced very shortly now on the building of the new chambers in Hamilton St. for the Hokitika Savings Bank. The present site and an adjoining section will he utilised in the building of the edifice which should prove a very ornamental addition to the architecture of our public buildings. Temporary quarters will he meantime in the premises opposite Addisons, Hamilton St.

Dr Teichelmann has returned from Dunedi il where he has been busy advertising Westland very effectively. The Lyttelton Times on this subject remarks: - -The pleasing duty of putting the West Coast on tho map at the Exhibition was undertaken last week h v J)t- E. Teichelmann, of Hokitika. The doctor went to Dunedin on behalf of the AVestland committee of the Canterbury Vrogress League for the purpose of undertaking some publicity for West!an(l He gave two lectures in the Government cinema theatre, and these Were greatly .appreciated by large audiences. Dr Teichelmann left his unique collection of West Coast lantern slides in Dunedin, and they will he exhibited at intervals at the Exhibition by an official of the Tourist Department. The slides are taken largely from Dr Teichelmann’s own photographs, and they represent many of the most beautiful scones on the Coast. Dr Teichelmann states that there has been a steady flow of AA ost Coasters to the Exhibition, and all I speak of tlie display In highly appreciative terms. Afanv of them regret that the Const is not more adequately represented at the Exhibition.
