THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

DUNEDIN, January 20. The Dominion of New Zealand Rowling Association’s annual tournament was advanced a stage further to-day. As far a.s the weather was concerned, the dav was one of the best experienced since the tournament was commenced. The greens were very keen and some splendid games were witnessed hy numerous spectators. Throughout the day play was devoted to the rinks and pairs championships. ’ln the rinks competition, three rounds of post-section play were decided. There were 17 rinks left at the dose of the .Section play, but after to-day’s games, the number was reduced to nine. The post-section play is decided on the two-life system and at present is as follows: There are three rinks with two lives viz : —Casey (Carlton), Thomson (Invercargill), and Gray (Kelburn). There are six rinks with one life each vie. Stewart (Dunedin), Hutchison (Dunedin). Wright (St. LToliers), Gibson (Tairi), Malcolm (Raimaeewan), and Harrawav ('Dunedin).

Pilkmgton. whose rink won the championship last year, went out in the third round of the post-section play. Several post sectional pennies in the pairs were played. The singles championship will be concluded to-morrow.
