IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.

UNFAYOUR A RLE CANADT AN REPLY. •• stralia & N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, January 19. It is learned that an unfavourable Canadian reply makes the Impeiial Conference in October unlikely, despite ■Whitehall’s anxiety to hold one as soon as possible, with a view to finalising the Dominion’s attitude to the Locarno Pact.

The reasons contained in the Canadian communications are not disclosed. A slight postponement may be necessary to ensure Canada’s participation, but the Imperial Government is still hopeful that the conference will he held before the end of 1926.
