THE DUNEDIN EXHIBITION.

Great interest is being shown hy the public in the promised presentation by the Exhibition Directors of a gold watch to the millionth visitor to passthrough. li.e gates. Yesterday morn ing, when the ninth week of the Exhibition opened, the grand total was 943,858. and it is expected that the first million will be reached on Thursday.
Although the outward trains have beem taking a wav thousand of ’Xmas visitors, just as many thousands throng the city, and the Exhibition railway returns so far have shown a steady balance on the inward side, and there is as yet no sign of any falling away in the phenomenal holiday crowds at the Exhibition. .Many visitors, even from long distances, before leaving Dunedin, went round to tlio Exhibition Accommodation Bureau, and re-booked the rooms they had occupied for a second visit. Repeat bookings for February have been very heavy. Y'isilors. without exception, apparently have been satisfied with the quarters hooked for them, as so far there has been a remarkable absence ol complaints to the Aceonunndntioii Bureau. Exhibits from Wembley’s second year for tho Army and Air Force Galleries in the British Government Court have arrived, and are expected to be in place by the end of the week. DUNEDIN, Jan. 13. The championship, competitions festival concluded in the Festival Hall lasi night with a demonstration concert by all the first, prize winners, which attracted a very large audience. I lit hall is not hooked for to-night, hut on Thursday and Saturday it is reserved for two concerts hy Madamt Elsa Stralia and her company. On Monday there will he a special concert in the hall hy the Argyll and Sutherand Highlanders Band, and on Wednesday and Thursday the Exhibition Choir and imported soloists present Ta nn ha user and on Wednesday aim Saturday of next week also.
Boy Scouts from Taliumi Park camp gave two big displays at the .Exhibition. It is expected that large attendances will be recorded. Ihe cl :i iln average has been maintained in a wonderful way through the second week of the New Year. Yesterday’s tally was 23,487 and it is now certain that the millionth visitor who will be presented .with a souvenir gold watch will pass through the gates to-morrow on the third day of the ninth week ol the big show. The accommodation bureau”reports that there have been heavy repeat IxioKings parlicularl;. for February, by visitors who have evidently all been well satisfied uith the arrangements made for them.
