ROUMANIAN THRONE
MILAN SENSATION. 4CJTBALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION LONDON, January 9. The “ Daily Telegraph’s” Rome correspondent says; Prince Carol’s voluntary imprisonment in a Milan hotel is creating the city’s greatest sensation. While it is admitted that he has chosen a fashionable residence, there is a distinct difference of opinion regarding the merits of the alleged beauty for whom he has sacrificed royal honours. The attitude of Prince Carol himself is commanding a degree of respect and even of admiration. Meanwhile, his hotel is undergoing n siege, day and night, by Italian and foreign journalists. Prince Carol’s, chauffeur is unable to approach, owing to the fear that he will be mobbed. There is speculation as to how long this impossible situation will be al-. lowed to continue. It is likely that Premier Mussolini will intervene, ordering the expulsion of .the. Prince and his lady from Italian territory, as being undesirable visitors.
