SHUNTING FATALITY.
AT FRANKTON YARDS
IBY TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION HAMILTON. Jan. 8. A shocking fatality occurred at Frankton railway yards late yesterday afternoon when a- middle-aged man, employed as leading shunter, named James Mac Kay, lost his life through being run over while .shunting 1 truck.
Tlu> circumstances'of the case are distressing, the deceased leaving a wife and five children all under fourteen years, the youngest being .seven months.
Deceased was working with a coupl of other railway employees. About hall a dozen trucks were being .shunted and the victim was travelling along in the customary manner, that is. standing between a couple of trucks. Stopping down on to a long brake handle lie missed bis footing, one foot being caught between the line and the wheel, which resulted in deceased being dragged under (he truck, which Massed over his left thigh, practically severing the limb.
AlacTxav died within a few minutes from shock.
