Exchequer returns for the first nine mouths of the current financial war show a deficiency of nearly one hundred and twenty-four millions as c unpnrod with eighty-nine millions for th' con'.'sponding period last year, which, by the end of the year, however. was converted into a small surplus. 'A similar happy position is expected now in consequence of Ihe heavy supplementary votes in connection with the coal subsidy and the loss renarding Wembley which increased the original estimates by twenty-one millions.
