After a perfect day yesterday the weather changed and heavy rain iell during the night. There was a tropical downpour for halt an hour this morning about 8 o’clock, after which the rain stopped.

Some excitement was caused in Sewell Street this morning by a horse in a lorry driven by Air AV. Thompson, tripping while jogging along, and coming down with a crash. The shaft of the lorry was broken. The horse was cut about both foreleg knees and was bleeding from the mouth and eye when it got to its feet, a few minutes later.

A Ross correspondent writes: When will young men learn the danger of tiring a rifle inside a Borough. During the holidays many accidents are caused by sheer carelessness. At Ross yesterday afternoon a well-known storekeeper was busy in his garden when a bullet passed so (lose to his left ear that the wind could he felt as well as the sound heard of a Hying bullet. The marksman was caught, this time not a child, but ft young man who was old enough to know better. After making profuse apologies he explained that lie was firing at a bottle on the tailings when the bullet must have glanced off and entered the garden. We trust that this will serve as a warning to others during the holidays to be very careful in the discharge of firearms. particularly inside a Borough, otherwise the man in blue will have something to sav.
