Owing to the unpromising conditions on ’Xmas morning the bowling programme pairs tournament only attracted a few- players. Two games were played by noon, but then the rain that followed prevented any further play for the day.
AYhen the acceptances of the second day’s races were posted at the Clubroom on Saturday night. All- J. Pearson. of Christchurch, on behalf of the visiting owners took the opportunity of thanking the officials of the AYexf land Racing Club for the kindness and hospitality extended to the visitors during their stay in Hokitika. The owners felt that they had been treated most generously and they appreciated the kindness shown to them very much. On helm If of the owners they wished the Club every success and hoped that the concluding day of the meeting would equal their best expectations. AH- E. .McGregor. Deputy-Chairman of the Club thanked AH- Pearson for the kindly remarks made. They were much appreciated by the Club officials who wished, always to make the visitors welcome and give them ns pleasant a time as possible. The impromptu interlude concluded with the singing of “ They Are Jolly Good Follows.”
