Alai ini in and Mr AY. Donovan. A summary of the result runs:—‘'The work has proved beyond a doubl ilia! good briquettes can be made from all these coals will* moderate amounts of pitch binder. It must lie pointed out. however, that the experimental press used, though excellent for laboratory work, is not the type that obtains in commercial practice. Tf it lie proposed to establish works, a series of further tests, on a larger scale might he advisable. Should a central works lie erected to deal with the slack front several collieries, great attention should lie given to blending the coals, so that any tendency to swell unduly when heated on the part of some, and to crack easily on the part of others, might be overcome by correctly proportioning the mixture so as to produce a briquette of uniform composition with the best possible burning properties.”
