THE NEW BISHOP.
LONDON, Nov. 20. At a. meeting of stewards and heads of committees, held at Heiisingham, Whitehaven. Cumberland, the following resolution was carried with acclamation, apropos the appointment of Dr ' Campbell Vest-Watsou to the Bishropic of Chrischuroh.
“Thao this meeting of missionary service workers desires to express to the Bishop of Barrow the deep interest i; fuels in his appointment to the responsible position of Bishop of Christchurch. New Zealand; and that, while deeply regretting the approaching severance ot his connection with the Diocese of Carlisle, the meeting ghuil.x recognises that the Bishop is responding to a missionary call, and wishes to assure him of its sympahty aiu. prayers.

The Bishop-Designate of Christchurch and Mrs and Miss West-Watson lunched yeserdav with Sir James and Lack Allen. Dr and .Mrs Wcsl-Watson, who have a family of five, have always wished to go to an oversea Dominion, and they and their family are high|\ pleased at the propspoct ol settling in New Zealand. Other guests were Si: Krederiffk and Lady Chapman, Dr. Chapman. Airs Roileston and Mr am Alls Charles Moklswortii.
