HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
FRIDAY, DEC. 18tli. The adjourned meeting of tlio Council from last week was herd at 7.30 p.m. Present: Messrs G. A. Perry (Mayor), G. H. Blank, W. Jeffries, A. R. El cock. G. Heinz, J. King, H. T. Parry. The Mayor said the business was to deal with the applications for the position of Sexton. Applications were received from the following:—Thomas Hanrahan, Alfred T. Lawson. XL O’Driscoll, A. J. Sumner, John Walsh, W. C. Wicblitz, Wnt. Christenson. It was resolved to reduce the names hv ballot to two, which resulted as follows:—Walsh 5. Wicblitz 4, Ilanrahun 2. Sumner 2, Lawson 1. Reduc'd to one—Walsh 6. Wicblitz 1. Mr John Walsh was then appointed to the position. 51 r Coulson took his seat. The application of J. Cuthush for annual leave from Jan. 4tli. was received and agreed to. Mr Coulson conveyed the season’s greetings to the Mayor, which Mr Parry heartily reciprocated. The Council then adjourned at 7.45 p.m. until January 22n0.
