BOY SCOUTS.
(Contributed.) The First Troop report smother Proficiency Badge gained last- week. Scout .las. Stow ha vino; passed the tests as Musician. At a meeting of the First Troop Committee held on Thursday last week, Mr -J. Berry resigned the office of Secretaryship owing to his removal to Wellington, and Mr W. Palmer was appointed as the new secretary and treasurer. The scouts of the troop were apparently busy during the weekend. assisting at a sale ol work in connection with All Saints Parish. It is a good sign in both the local troops that, scout uniform is a little more in evidence lately in the streets of the town, and the wearing of the buttonhole badge seems also to he becoming more general. About a dozen Cubs of the Second Hokitika Pack and a, similar number of Scouts—the hitter with one or perj Imps two exceptions representing the party attending the .lamhorec next ' uioiiih—leave on Friday morning for | camp at Awatnna. The cubs will travel by train, hut the scouts intend to trek out with their kit in the trek carl. The two camps will he about a mile apart mi opposite sides ol the liver, hut it is hoped to combine to give a worth-while display to the twr.•ol'. and others who are expected <uil on Visiter’s Day. The following will he the. Westland representatives at the Dominion Jamboree at Dunedin:—lvnku Patrol—R. Bone, T. Mcliivrc, S. Huberts, C. Richardson. B. Atkinson, .las. Stow. Hawke Patrol- P. Vcale, M. Davidson. C. Schroder. .1. Richards, W. Blair. X. Rowe. Scoutmaster li. Seward. It is intended to leave Hokitika by the express on Tuesday, January otii. and to reach Dunedin by the lulluwng Saturday. A full fortnight will he spent under canvas at lalnina Park. Dunedin, and on three days public displays will he given by the scouts at the Exhibition.
