The newspaper “Midi” publishes a remarkable story wherin its special correspondent at Fez declares he has seen a contract dated, June 1923, between Abdel Krim and Capt. Charles (iardiucr, described as a financier, shipbuilder and engineer, of London, under which, for the payment of three hundred thousand sterling, to bo spent m arms and .munitions for the IRifL'i, (Jardiner received all the concessions in oil, mines, forests, post ofiice, telegraphic and telephone systems, dock ports, customs dues, railways and public works. The correspondent adds: In a- word Abdel Krim sold half-a-million Riffs to Gardiner for £300,000 plus a small share of the profits. The contract declares the concessions are irrecoverable for 99 years. Gardiner is stated to bo an ex-sea captain, who lias been Abdel Krim's adviser for the past two years.
