ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. BEEF DECLINES. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.), U'ImiSTCHUIIC'H, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store Sheep:—A larger yarding than last, week, comprising mostly wethers, and it included consignments from Alarlborottgli and the C’hatam Islands. The market was much easier and wethers showed a drop of Is to Is 6d easily, but in face of anticipated overall prices when tile factories open, and also the present climatic conditions, tlu? sale must be considered a good one. Best forward wethers made 26s to 28s. medium 245/ to 25s 2d. others down to 21s Oil, best two tooth wethers 21s to 235, inferior 18s; s.lll. crossbred owes 2-Is to 26s 6d, others down to Its; ewes and lambs shorn (interior) 12s Gd, all counted, good ditto in wool 25s Id, all counted. Store Cattle:—A large yarding, which included one or two decent lines. The demand was fairly consistent throughout, but although there was a good clearance, prices generally were slightly easier. Best steers made to £9 15s, 3 year steers £7 2s Gd, 2 year steers £5 15s. 2 year heifers i£2 Ills, to £4, yearling Steers £1 15s to ,C2 ss, best cows £3 to £4 ss. medium £2 to £2 15s. others down to Is=.
Beef:—A very large yarding and following on the previous big sales, the market was easier although, in our opinion, not to the same extent that some of the experts quote. A large number of cows wore yarded and if there was much of a drop if was more apparent in this (lass than in heavy Intel* generally. I here was one excellent- line of lie re fords from the North Island which elicited good competition : they were young, but beautifully finished, being just the class of beef required by the trade at this time of the year. Prime steers made £l7 to £l9 15s. extra to £23 2s Gd, medium £ll to £lO 10s, lighter £9 to £l3 Ills, prime heifers £ll td £l3 7s (id. extra to £ls 2s 6(1, medium £7 15s to £lO 15s, others down to (J(i, prime cows £7 IPs to £lO. extra to £TI, medium £5 to £7. lighter down to £3 15s.
Fat Pigs:—Of haconers there was a fair size yarding and prices were even better tlian last week, all lots being eagerly competed for. Light haconers made £4 to £1 10s, heavy £5 to £5 10s, extra- to £6 (is, average 8(1 to 85(1; choppers £3 to £0 10s. Porkers were in over supply and prices were considerably easier. Light porkers made £2 5s to £2 12s, heavy £2 17s to £3 3s. extra £3 Bs, average 75d to Bd. Store Pigs:—A very large yarding and the market generally was easier with the exception of one or two pens of outstanding quality. AVeaners 17s to 28s Gd, slips 33s to 40s, medium stores -12 s to 48s, large to 545. Alutton:—A fair entry, but in face of the large beef, veal and lamb entries. were evidentaly too many in for local requirements. There wore not so many ewes as usual, the market opened about par with last week, hut quickly slipped hack and got worse as the sale progressed and towards the end the sales were hard to make and passings were Iroquent. Iho sale showed a. drop of is Gd to 2s (Id all round on lasi- week. Prime wethers made 80s Gd to 3 Is, extra to 36= 10d, medium 28s (id to 30s, others down to 26s (id, prime ewes 25s to 28s Gd. extra to 31s, medium 22s to 24s (3d. others down to 16s (id.
Fat Lambs.: —A larger entry which comprised the same great quality. Although the sale opened about equal to last week it- finished up very firm, showing 2s to 3s rise, the overall prices being Old to Bid.
