BOY SCOUTS.

(Contributed.> The quarterly meeting of the parents and friends ol the Second Hokitika I'rnop on Tuesday in the County Chambers wa> Well attended. ami besides the usual reports and business connected with the .Jamboree, a good deal of attention was given to the camp which is to start next week at Awatuna. It was decided that Dee. tf.'ird should he Visitors' Day and it is hoped that a really large party will he aide to come out for the day. it is hoped that the Scouts and Cubs will he aide to arrange an open air display during the day anti granted tine weather the trip should he really enjoyable as well as giving an opportunity to those wishing to see more of the practical side of scout work. At the end of the meeting some addresses by Sir Robert Hadeu-Powell, reproduced on the gramophone were listened to with considerable interest.

The Second Troop and Pack report the following additions to the list of badges gained:—Collector's Madge, Wolf Cub. A. Sutherland; Second Class Stout Madge. T. -Mclntyre and X. Rowe. Scout .las. Stow of the First Troop also gained his Second Class Madge Tluring the week, which means that all the Hokitika Scouts attending the Jamboree will go away as scouts of this grade. Arrangements have been made for the Jamboree party after they leave Hokitika to camp for several days close to the centre of Christchurch and even lnd'ore reaching Dunedin a good deal of interesting sight-seeing, especially for those who have never been far away from their native town, should be possible.

Air H. A. Seward. Scoutmaster of the Second Troop, has forwarded to the County Clerk a contribution of Ss

from the local corns to the Massey Memorial. Each bov’s contribution was limited to threepence or less, so that over thirty lads contributed.
