GOVERNOR-GENERAL. INVERCARGILL. Dec. 9. Tbe Governor-General and partyvisited the hospital on Tuesday afternoon. At the public hospital be spent nearly* two hours in chatting ysith every patient and meeting several who served under him at Home. He bad a great reception at the returned soldiers' re-union in tbe evening. To-day he visited the A. and P. Show, and was entertained at luncheon. Perfect summer weather prevails and the tour is most enjoyable.

SHARK CAUGHT. AUCKLAND. Dee. 9. A grey nurse shark, Bft. 3in. long, was caught from a launch near T)evonport wharf. The shark was one of live seen in the locality. All were exceedingly venturesome, going close inshore. A six loot shark which wa.s hooked previously broke the tackle. Evidently there is a large school of sharks in the harbour.
